Welcome to My Fundraising Page!
Please help me raise funds to support Direct Emergency Financial Assistance for folks living with HIV.
The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis created the Gregory R. Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) program in the late 1990s to provide needed assistance to low-income Hoosiers living with HIV/AIDS in emergency situations. DEFA funds are distributed by The Health Foundation to grantees that provide hands-on care management and assistance including Eskenazi Health. In 2019, DEFA funds provided assistance to 4,819 patients. The funds were used for rent/mortgage, utility, medical, nutrition, transportation, and medication.
If you didn't know, I am part of a team at Eskenazi Health Center Primary Care and the Eskenazi Gender Health Program aiming to increase access to HIV preventive services as part of our fight to End HIV! We hope to have a dramatic impact on new HIV cases in Marion County by 2030. The assistance you provide in donating towards our team for this year's AIDS Walk helps us support people living with HIV locally. This is important so that we can achieve the viral suppression that helps make Treatment as Prevention and U=U possible! These concepts represent an essential component of the fight to end HIV in addition to helping people know their status and get on PrEP/PEP or learn about other preventive strategies to reduce transmission of HIV. If you have more questions, please let me know.
